José Eduardo Agualusa (Huambo, Angola, 1960) és escriptor i periodista. Ha publicat més de trenta obres literàries que han estat traduïdes a més de vint-i-cinc idiomes. És també cofundador de l’editorial brasilera Língua Geral, articulista en diversos mitjans de comunicació i presentador del programa de ràdio A hora das cigarras, de la RDP África, sobre música i poesia africana. L’any 2007 es va convertir en el primer escriptor africà a guanyar el Premi The Independent Foreign Fiction, per la novel·la El venedor de passats. Teoria general de l’oblit (Periscopi, 2017) va rebre el Premi Llibreter 2018, el Premi International Dublin Literary del 2017, i va ser finalista del Premi Man Booker International. Agualusa és considerat un dels escriptors africans més originals de les últimes dècades i una de les veus més importants de la literatura portuguesa.
