She has a sidekick too, the equally unreal Benito, a randy, one-eyed, teenage character from her series of successful kids' novels. Rafael Reig (Cangas de Onís, 1963) estudió filosofía y letras en la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid y dio clases de literatura en varias universidades norteamericanas, así como en la escuela de escritura Hotel Kafka. Es autor de dos originales narraciones sobre la historia de la literatura: Señales de humo (III Premio de Novela Solar de Samaniego) y La cadena trófica, que conforman un particular Manual de literatura para caníbales, y de, entre otras, las novelas Todo está perdonado (VI Premio Tusquets Editores de Novela 2010), Lo que no está escrito (Premio Pata Negra 2014 a la mejor ficción policiaca), Un árbol caído, Para morir iguales (Premio de la Crítica de Madrid 2019), Amor intempestivo (2020), El río de cenizas (2022) y Cualquier cosa pequeña (2024).
