David Almond nació en Newcastle en 1951 y en la actualidad vive en Northumberland con su familia. En 2010 fue galardonado con el Hans Christian Andersen, el premio Nobel de la literatura infantil. Sus historias se han traducido en más de 20 países, siendo ‘Skellig’ la más aclamada y popular. En 2021 fue nombrado Oficial de la Orden del Imperio Británico por sus servicios a la literatura.
