Scott Sigler nació y se crió en Michigan. Heredó de su padre el amor por las películas clásicas de terror y de su madre, profesora de escuela, el interés por la lectura. Sigler escribió su primera historia de monstruos, Tentáculos, a los ocho años. Se graduó en periodismo y publicidad y fue recolector de fruta, reportero de deportes, responsable de marketing para una empresa de software y vendedor de guitarras, antes de crear su propia web y autopublicar sus libros en formato podcast (audio).
