Keeping watch under the windows of the Paris flat belonging to a politician's nephew, ex-cop Louis Kehlweiler catches sight of something odd on the pavement. Fred Vargas (seudónimo de Frédérique Audoin-Rouzeau, París, 1957), arqueóloga de formación, es mundialmente conocida como autora de novelas policiacas; ha escrito también el ensayo La humanidad en peligro.
