Mozart de viaje a Praga (1856), la última y más importante novela de Eduard Mörike, es la narración de un día otoñal en la vida del compositor: junto a su esposa Constanze, en la frontera bohemia, se encamina a Praga para dirigir el estreno de Don Giovanni. En un carruaje de tres caballos, atraviesan bosques, valles y recuerdos hasta llegar a un pequeño castillo de estilo italiano, propiedad del conde de Schinzberg. Allí, Mozart juega al billar y, movido por la melomanía de los aristócratas, toca el piano mientras su esposa canta arias.
