As well as a teacher, write, and scholar, Lecog (1913-71) was an ironwork and metalwork expert and collector of antique hardware and domestic implements. Here he uses text and line drawings to examine a wide range of French architectural ironwork and the evolution of its style through the centuries. Among his topics are the iron industry, aesthetics, leafwork, grillework, locks, bolts and sash-bolts, and keys. Fer forge et serrurerie was published in 1999 by Societe d'Editions Litteraires et Documentaires, Paris.
