Es catedrático en la Escuela de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Ha desarrollado una amplia actividad docente, investigadora y divulgativa en ingeniería marítima, incluyendo sus relaciones con el medioambiente y el clima.
