Howard Pyle (Wilmington, Delaware, Estados Unidos, 1853 - Florencia, Italia, 1911). Escritor e ilustrador norteamericano. Alcanzó la fama en su época por sus dibujos y escritos. Con el dinero que obtuvo de las ventas creó en Wilmington una escuela gratuita de ilustradores. Posteriormente, se atrevería también con la pintura mural. En 1910, fue a Italia para perfeccionar su estilo pictórico, pero falleció al año siguiente.
