Theodoret of Cyrrhus (c. 393–c. 458) was a significant and sometimes controversial figure in the fifth century church. He played a key role in the controversy between Cyril of Alexandria and his Antiochene opponents following the Council of Ephesus in 431. He is widely credited with helping the opposing sides reach an agreement.
