Su novela El elefante ganó el Premio SCBWI Crystal Kite en 2016, el Premio de la Australian Book Industry en 2017 y el Premio Queensland Literary en 2018, además de quedar finalista en los Premios de la NSW Premier’s Literary y los Premios CBCA. Peter imparte talleres en escuelas y sus obras han sido traducidas a numerosas lenguas.
