Ultimately, with the demon banished and Atlantis beginning to crumble, the heroes escape dramatically back to the surface. The Maracot Deep combines Doyles scientific curiosity with swashbuckling fantasy, offering a Jules Verne-esque tale with Doyles twist of mystical conflict.
