Diana Wynne Jones (Londres, 1934) es autora de más de cuarenta novelas y una de las principales voces de la literatura fantástica actual. Licenciada en Filología Inglesa por la universidad de Oxford, de joven asistió a conferencias de J. R. R. Tolkien y C. S. Lewis. En 1977 publicó la primera parte de su aclamada serie Los mundos de Chrestomanci (Nocturna, 2024-2025). Nueve años después apareció su novela más famosa: El castillo ambulante (Nocturna, 2018), que fue llevada al cine en una adaptación de Hayao Miyazaki, cuya historia prosiguió en El castillo en el aire (Nocturna, 2018) y La casa de los mil pasillos (Nocturna, 2018). A lo largo de su trayectoria ha recibido numerosos premios, entre ellos un World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement (2007). En 2010 publicó Cristal embrujado (Nocturna, 2011) y al año siguiente, tras una larga enfermedad, falleció en Bristol.
