Concha López Narváez nació en Sevilla el 27 de agosto de 1939. Estudió la carrera de Filosofía y Letras, y se licenció en la especialidad de Historia de América. Ha escrito multitud de libros y varios cuentos y artículos. Le han sido concedidos numerosos premios de literatura infantil y juvenil: Lazarillo, CCEI, Lista de Honor del IBBY y finalista del Premio Nacional, entre otros. «El tiempo y la promesa» fue seleccionado para la Lista de Honor de la CCEI en 1991. En 1992 fue nominada por España para el Premio Andersen.
