Elif Shafak es una escritora británico-turca con veinte libros publicados, trece de los cuales son novelas. Doctorada en Ciencias Políticas y en Humanidades, ha sido profesora en varias universidades, entre ellas la de Oxford. Gran defensora de los derechos de la mujer y LGBTQ+ y la libertad de expresión, fue cofundadora del Consejo Europeo de Relaciones Exteriores y colabora con publicaciones de toda Europa.
