FEPS, die erste progressive politische Stiftung auf EU-Ebene, hat, finanziell unterstützt vom Europäischen Parlament, die Rede des früheren deutschen Bundeskanzlers Helmut Schmidt, beim Parteitag der SPD am 4. Dezember 2011 herausgegeben. Der Präsident der FEPS und frühere italienische Ministerpräsident, Massimo DAlema, unterstreicht: "Das ist eine wichtige und visionäre Rede, weil sie ihr Publikum herausfordert. Sie fordert Deutsche Politiker dazu auf, ihren Platz im Projekt Europa zu erkennen und sie fordert alle Europäer dazu auf, sich partnerschaftlich zu verhalten." Die Rede wurde auf Deutsch gehalten und kommt aus der Mitte Europas. Die FEPS lässt die Europäer an den Reflektionen des früheren Kanzlers Schmidt in ihren eigenen Sprachen teilhaben: Sie hat die Rede in 16 Sprachen veröffentlicht. FEPS, the first progressive political foundation established at the European level has decided to edit with the financial support of the European Parliament the speech given by former German Federal Chancellor, Helmut Schmidt, at the SPD party conference, on 4 December 2011. As FEPS President and former Prime minister of Italy Massimo DAlema said "This is an important and visionary speech because it challenges its audience. It challenges German leaders to recognise their place within the European project and it challenges all Europeans to bind themselves to each other in a cooperative and realistic manner". While this speech was given in German and comes from the centre of Europe, FEPS has taken the initiative to give the peoples of Europe a chance to share former Chancellor Schmidts reflections in their own languages. Therefore, the speech is available in 16 languages.
