The Barcelona History Atlas holds a mirror up to the city toexamine its times and its spaces. It is structured in three parts. The first tours the connections and continuities in Barcelona’s historical trajectory, addressing the options – and the contradictions – of its elites and majorities. Each chapter has a general text that enables us to examine, simultaneously, exhibits from the Museum’s collections, a cartographic approach to the city’s urban structure, the geopolitical vision of the time, a specialist’s point of view on a decisive question of the period, and a look at contemporary landscapes. The second part deals with strategic issues of 20th-century Barcelona. The third, shows the new network organisation of the Barcelona History Museum, a new museum for citizens, with 55 exhibition rooms located at 19 heritage sites all around the city.
