Michael Azerrad es un periodista musical norteamericano que ha escrito para cabeceras tan prestigiosas como el New Yorker, Spin, el New York Times, Musician, el Wall Street Journal, Billboard y para MTV News. De 1987 a 1993 también colaboró asiduamente en la prestigiosa revista Rolling Stone, donde acabó ejerciendo de editor adjunto. En 1993 publicó la biografía de Nirvana, "Come as You Are", que apareció apenas seis meses antes de la muerte de Kurt Cobain y es el único libro sobre el grupo que incluye entrevistas con todos los miembros de la banda.
