The provenance of the talks are library archives, private collections, and individuals from all around the world. They have been arranged chronologically and are presented in this edition for the first time in their entirety.
Over one hundred authentic talks, unaltered and unexpurgated.

Alexándropol, Armenia, 1866 – Neuilly-sur-Seine, Francia, 1949 A Georges Ivánovich Gurdjieff (1866-1949) se le reconoce en el presente como a una gran fuerza espiritual que anticipó los problemas de la civilización moderna y abogó por que la gente regresase al antiguo y olvidado «conocimiento del ser» como única realidad indeleble. Nacido en Alexandropol, en el Cáucaso, pasó veinte años en una búsqueda de conocimientos esotéricos que le llevó a viajar de Grecia y Egipto al Asia Central, llegando a las montañas del Hindukush y el Tíbet. Gurdjieff y un reducido número de camaradas reunieron elementos de una «ciencia» olvidada que reconciliaba las grandes creencias tradicionales, incluyendo el cristianismo, el budismo y el islam. Tras enseñar en Moscú y San Petersburgo desde 1912, acabó asentándose en Francia en 1922, donde fundó el Instituto para el Desarrollo Armónico del Hombre en Fontainebleau. Más tarde, se mudó a París, donde continuó enseñando a sus discípulos hasta su muerte.
