The institutional history of Medieval Spain spans a period of 1000 years or so, from the coming of the Visigoths in the fifth century to the reign of Ferdinand and Isabella inte fifteenth. During those centuries the governance of the realm by kings endeavoring to administer law and justice underwent a series of transformations in response to changing political, social, economic, religious and cultural circumstances.
