Robin McKinley. Nació en 1952 en Warren, Ohio. Por el trabajo de su padre, oficial en la marina de EE. UU., la autora tuvo la oportunidad de vivir en California, Nueva York o Japón. Se graduó summa cum laude en 1975. Compaginó sus primeros trabajos como ayudante de investigación y librera con la escritura de Beauty, una revisión de La bella y la bestia que le reportó varios premios. Desde entonces no ha parado de escribir, y entre sus obras destacan sus adaptaciones de cuentos populares, sus series juveniles y dos novelas de notable éxito: Dragonhaven y Sunshine (que le supuso el premio Mythopoeic de literatura fantástica).
