Leonard Cohen nació en Montreal en 1934 y falleció en Los Ángeles en noviembre de 2016. Poeta, novelista, músico y cantante, este hombre polifacético supo reflejar las emociones de más de una generación de mujeres y hombres que buscaban en su obra aliento y consuelo, y en 2011 se le concedió el Premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Letras. Cohen grabó más de veinte discos, entre ellos clásicos como Songs of Leonard Cohen y Songs From a Room. Su carrera literaria empezó en 1956 con la publicación de su primer libro de poesía, Let Us Compare Mythologies. Lumen ha editado su obra poética más conocida, Libro del anhelo (2006), sus dos novelas, El juego favorito (2017) y Hermosos perdedores (2017), y la recopilación de su narrativa incluida en Un ballet de leprosos. Una novela y relatos inéditos (2023).
