University English Course for Pre-service Primary Teachers is an English as a second language textbook specially addressed to would-be Primary teachers. It was designed following the main principles of English for Specific Purposes, as it is a learner-centered material to teach English as an additional language, which focuses on developing communicative competence in a specific discipline, that is, teaching in Primary Education. Therefore, contents are based on authentic texts, videos, etc. related to education and emphasising the vocabulary which teachers-to-be will need in their future practice.According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the English level of this textbook is‘independent user’(B1-B2). However, it contains authentic sources without manipulation which independent users may occasionally find slightly demanding. This is, nonetheless, a necessary part of the learning process References to authentic material can be found as footnotes throughout the book and in the list of references.It is the perfect book to use in the classroom, but also in self-learning contexts, as several activities were designed from a blended-learning and flipped-classroom approach.
