Robert Mapplethorpe es uno de los artistas más importantes del siglo XX, conocido por su obra innovadora y provocativa. Estudió pintura, dibujo y escultura en Brooklyn en la década de 1960 y comenzó a tomar fotografias cuando adquirio una camara Polaroid, en 1970.
