This book is about people’s life in the thirteenth and fourteenth century. The action takes place in Barcelona. It was a time of many different kingdoms in the Iberian Peninsula, and the Mediterranean Sea. It is very interesting to learn about commerce in that period, and how Christians interacted with Hebrews. The role of the Church is also present throughout the book, together with the fearsome Spanish Inquisition. Kings, infants, nobles, bishops, Dominicans, peasants, solders, moneylenders... come and go from page one.
