Aminatta Forna nació en Glasgow, creció en Reino Unido y Sierra Leona como hija de padre africano y madre escocesa. Tras licenciarse en Derecho, trabajó para la BBC y ha sido periodista, locutora de radio y presentadora de televisión, pero hoy día vuelca en la escritura todo su tiempo, a caballo entre Europa y África.
