MALALA YOUSAFZAI comenzó su campaña por la educación de las niñas a los diez años, cuando el valle de Swat fue atacado por terroristas y peligraba el derecho a la educación. En 2009 escribió sobre la vida bajo los talibanes para el servicio de la BBC en urdu y apareció en un documental del New York Times sobre la educación en Pakistán. En octubre de 2012 Malala se convirtió en objetivo de los talibanes y le dispararon cuando volvía a casa del colegio. Sobrevivió y continúa su campaña por la educación.
