Joan Roca, formado en la Escola d’Hostaleria i Turisme de Girona, creció en el restaurante familiar, Can Roca. Con sus hermanos, Josep y Jordi, dirige El Celler de Can Roca, reconocido como el mejor restaurante del mundo en 2013 y 2015. Su cocina combina tradición y modernidad, destacando por su enfoque en la cocción controlada al vacío. Además de su éxito en la gastronomía, Joan es un promotor de la investigación y la sostenibilidad, y ha sido reconocido por su labor educativa y participación en programas universitarios y proyectos de desarrollo sostenible. Joan Roca ha recibido el premio a Mejor Cocinero del Año por la Real Academia Española de la Gastronomía (2000), el Grand Prix del Arte de la Gastronomía por la Academia Internacional de la Gastronomía (2012), el Chef Choice Award de The World’s 50 Best Restaurants (2016). En el mismo año Joan, Josep y Jordi Roca son nombrados Embajadores de Buena Voluntad para el Programa de Desarrollo Sostenible de Naciones Unidas. En 2017 y 2018 Joan es reconocido como el mejor cocinero del mundo por The Best Chef Awards.
