Pina Piccolo is a writer and translator who lives between Italy and California. She earned her Ph.D. in Italian Literature at the University of California, Berkeley in 1985 and has been contributing to scholarly journals since then. Over the years she has translated many books of poetry and fiction into Italian, including works by Shailja Patel, Ahmed Masoud, Iya Kiva, Adeena Karasick, Mahmoud Darwish And many others. She was one of the founders and editors of the Italian language digital literary journal La Macchina Sognante, and is the editor-in-chief of the transnational literary journal The Dreaming Machine. Her contribution to cultural activism include founding the Bologna chapter of 100Thousand Poets for Change and initiating many solidarity projects in the cultural field. Her poetry collection I canti dell Interregno was published in 2018 by Lebeg Edizioni. Her scholarly contributions focus on the theater of Dario Fo and Franca Rame, the novels of Gianni Celati, post-colonial studies, eco-feminism, migration, anti-racism and resistance literature.
